Official Website
Welcome to the official website of Eric Shanteau, 2008 Olympian and cancer survivor. During the summer of 2008, Eric achieved his lifelong dream of qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Swim Team. On June 19, 2008, just one week before the trials, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Eric was able to delay surgery to compete in the Olympic Games where he swam a personal best time in the 200 meter breaststroke.
Eric resides in Marina del Rey, CA where he trains under Dave Salo with the pro team at the University of Southern California. Eric spends his extra time working as a LIVESTRONG Envoy for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. He is an advocate for cancer awareness especially in young adults. He travels the country giving motivational speeches to swimmers, students, business professionals, and fundraisers.
“Success is not defined by the number of victories you achieve, but by the mountains you overcome.”
